2009 Elephant Grape Stomp a Huge Success ! Watch Video of the "Crowning" Here!
This year's Elephant Grape Stomp welcomed a crowd of more than 400 visitors to ARK 2000 on one of the loveliest days of the year. The crowds gathered around the elephant and tiger areas as the playful animals ate and demolished pumpkins, grapes, grapevines and cornstalks.
![]() Annie, one of our Asian elephants, feasted on a private stash of grapes as her companions, Wanda, Gypsy and Rebecca, roamed the hills in search of hidden treats.
As usual, the African group, led by Mara and Ruby, followed the crowd and consumed enormous amounts of grapes and vines which were fed to them by Pat, Ed and the elephant keepers.
Maggie, Alaska's beloved elephant, won the votes for most popular elephant and was crowned "Miss TUSKany of 2009" with an edible wreath of grapevines, fruit and vegetables. Her companions all received edible bouquets of kale, grapes and squash.
![]() The Elephant Grape Stomp raised more than $50,000 for the animals. Don't miss next year's event! The Elephant Grape Stomp is celebrated each year on the third Saturday of October.
