RETIRED SUPERSTAR GAME SHOW HOST VISITS GOLD COUNTRY May 21, 2008 (San Andreas, CA) When game show host, Bob Barker, retired from his popular television show after winning countless awards and the adulation of the American public, he spent some of his spare time helping elephants with a retirement plan that included permanent refuge at the 2300 acre ARK 2000 sanctuary for captive wildlife. Located in the historic town of San Andreas, CA., where the elephant became the symbol for the gold rush, ARK 2000 is the perfect setting for the elephants living there. Bob visited the sanctuary with friends, Nancy Burnet, founder of the United Activists for Animals and Henry Bollinger, Mr. Barker’s publicist. After a day spent with the elephants, the group enjoyed a gourmet vegetarian dinner at Mineral Restaurant in Murphys where they were joined by PAWS’ friends and supporters from the area.
