ANNIE – KEEPING COOL Annie, our oldest Asian elephant, is undoubtedly the most resilient and resourceful of all of the “old girls”. She moves about the habitat, enjoying her favorite mud holes and stick piles, sleeps in her personally decorated bedroom, and indulges in occasional displays of youthful antics, trumpeting and kicking at logs and tree branches. Like all elephants, Annie enjoys water and a good bath, but she is, undoubtedly, the most enthusiastic swimmer among the senior group. Her aquatic displays, especially on hot days, are an endless source of pleasure for those of us who are privileged to witness the sweet giant as she rolls in the water, tossing tires and other toys about with an energy that belies her age. Annie is keeping cool.
